Very little phases her, since she lost all concept of 'normal' a long time ago. Things like ghosts, monsters, or anything strange and disturbing, she can simply accept without question and move along as though nothing is out of place. Or she can choose to refuse to acknowledge something as existing, and thereby cut it out from her perception of reality entirely. Strength of Will - Related to her sanity (or lack thereof), Alice has an incredible strength of will. Physical damage does not affect her as much as it would a •WEAPONS ☆ Vorpal Blade - The Vorpal Blade is a crude weapon by most standards, but never far from Alice's hand regardless. It is nothing more than a large, bloodstained machete-type knife. She can throw it at enemies, but it takes a few seconds before the knife magically returns to her hand. Deck of Cards - These playing cards are no ordinary toy, for instead of cutting the deck, it can cut whatever Alice throws the cards at. The cards return, but it does take time. She can throw one with good accuracy, or a 'hand' of five cards in a spray with little accuracy aside from general direction. Croquet Mallet - The croquet mallet is actually a flamingo with rigor mortis, but is magically enchanted to cause electrical damage to foes when struck. Jack Bomb - The Jack Bomb is perhaps the most entertaining, yet one of the most deadly, items in Alice's toy chest. It resembles a harmless Jack-in-the-Box, and when Alice deploys it, the device begins playing "Pop Goes the Weasel". What happens next, though, is anything but childish--it will either explode in a blast that will shake the room, or the clown-head will spring from the box and spray fire in a circle around where the bomb has been placed. Ice Wand - The wand can freeze opponents to their core, leaving them a brittle sculpture that cracks and shatters easily. Alternately, it creates an icy shield in front of Alice. This can allow her to find safety or evade enemy attacks, as well as block tight passageways. Alice can have several of these walls in place at once, but they melt quickly. Jacks o' Death - The Jacks o' Death consist of a bouncy ball and a handful of deadly-sharp jacks. When Alice slings the latter at her target, the jacks bounce and jitter in a deadly dance that can rip a foe to shreds. The toys will magically return to Alice's hands after a short period of time. Demon Dice - When Alice does lose her temper completely, she can roll the dice and there will be hell to pay. When activated, the dice summon a demon from the gates of Hell itself. What kind and how many demons appear depends on the roll and how many dice Alice has thrown (between one and three)--the higher the number, the more powerful the fiend. Jabberwockey Eye Staff - The Eye Staff, which comes from the body of the great fiend itself, is a spectacular weapon. The weapon can be charged up to do more and more damage, but doing so leaves Alice open to attack. The attack fires off a great blast of energy that will do significant damage to whatever it hits, with the level of damage increasing as the charge time does. The weapon also has an alternative fire, but it is a very dangerous attack to toy with. The secondary attack requires a long charge time, during which Alice is completely immobile. Blunderbuss - The Blunderbuss resembles an old musket rifle, but is much, much more potent. The recoil from it sends Alice flying, but whatever she shoots at will most likely be completely destroyed. Dead Time Watch - The Dead Time Watch is a curious artifact indeed. It gives Alice power of the flow of time itself, letting her freeze the world around her in its place while she skips through it. This condition will only endure for a few moments, though, and can only be used once in a great while. •PERSONALITY ☆ When Alice was but a young child, she was a very sweet little girl with a kind heart. That, perhaps, was pivotal in making her the woman that she is now. The crushing guilt she bears from having survived the fire that killed her parents has manifested itself in a number of ways on the woman's psyche, very few of them pleasant. Perhaps the largest feature in her personality, Alice's rage is also the most deeply hidden. Aside from a flash of anger in her eyes and her savage ruthlessness in a battle, any emotions relating to or stemming from rage are buried deeply within herself, with great high walls to hide it. Unfortunately, with such a large component of herself locked away, almost everything else about Alice seems a bit dead and flat. Her voice is toneless and emotionless, and her facial expression doesn't vary overly much. Not to say she doesn't feel things, but she lost her ability to express them. Guilt is the second largest facet in her personality, though it is buried nearly as tightly as her rage. She escaped the fire that killed her parents, and had even been dreaming about Wonderland while her parents were being burned alive. She refuses to speak much about this event in her life, but it manifests itself both in the events that transpire in Wonderland and the dour expression that has permanently settled over her features. With her negative emotions bottled up and suppressed, Alice is a rather pleasant person, if a bit twisted. She is curious, and not vicious or unpleasant to those who are not minions of the Queen of Hearts. She is willing to help others, and moderately outgoing. She speaks in a manner most would consider enigmatic and cryptic, but it seems to be the way most people in Wonderland speak. Also, she is from the late 1800's and her level of formality is appropriate given her time. •APPEARANCE ☆ Alice is a •HISTORY ☆ Alice was just seven years old when she had her first encounter with Wonderland. She followed the creature she would later learn to know as the White Rabbit down a rabbit hole and into a strange new world where the laws of physics and reality mattered very little, but arbitrary thing like rules in a cardgame seemed much more pressing. Just as she managed to convince herself that the adventure she had gone on had been imagined--a feat of forgetting that had taken five years--she lost herself in the ponderings of imagining a world inside a mirror. She found herself pulled into the mirror, and discovered another strange world beyond the looking glass, a world based on a chess game. After her encounters with two forms of the world known as 'Wonderland', she could no longer pretend they were not real. She imagined herself there daily, frequently taking tea with her friends in the Mad Hatter's garden. One night, as her body slept in the real world, Alice was again at a tea party with some of her old friends. As a nightlight burned comfortingly on her table, the cat became entranced by the shadows. The kitten leapt towards the lamp, knocking it over and shattering it. The oil spread across the floor, and quickly engulfed the room in flames. Alice ran through the house, not sure where to go, whether she should go outside or go to her parents' room and warn them. Unfortunately, in the wasted time, the flames engulfed that room as well, and by the time she made up her mind to try the door, the room within was a blazing inferno. Heeding the advice of her friends that only she could hear, Alice 'saved herself' by flinging herself from the window into a snowdrift below. The snow saved her life from the fall, but the fire saved her life from the cold until help arrived. Wracked with survivor's guilt, egged on by the fact that she had been 'taking tea with her friends in dreamland' while her parents were burning alive, Alice attempted suicide at the age of fifteen, and again at seventeen. Both times, she had attempted to slit her wrists. After her second attempt, she retreated into her mind, going catatonic except for a few sessions with her doctor while she was in the care of Rutledge Asylum. It was while interred in Rutledge's padded walls that she discovered Wonderland had become a very twisted place, corrupted by the rule of the malevolent Queen of Hearts. Led by the White Rabbit and assisted by another friend from her earlier, happier adventures, the Cheshire Cat, Alice embarks on a trek through the remains of Wonderland and the twisted, dangerous land it has become, seeking to defeat the Queen of Hearts and restore her friends. The Mad Hatter, ironically the one who had urged her to save her own life during the fire, has become a twisted sort of quasi-scientist who has vivisected many other creatures and plots to replace Wonderland's inhabitants with automatons. He murders the White Rabbit in an attempt to stop Alice's quest. The White Rabbit is just to be the first of many old friends systematically wiped out by the Queen of Hearts and her forces. Even the Cheshire Cat is killed--beheaded on the Queen's orders--just before he can give Alice the final piece of the puzzle that explains the state of Wonderland. | |
